Contemporary Theatre

Research on Contemporary Theatre at the MUK covers theatre practices from the 20th and 21st centuries, with a particular emphasis on contemporary political theatre, post-dramatic performance, acting theory, theatre and digitality, as well as topics like anti-discrimination, decolonization, and the aesthetics of resistance in the performing arts.

Through interdisciplinary projects and elective courses, MUK students—especially those in Drama, Classical and Contemporary Dance, Master of Arts Education (MAE), and Musical Theatre—can engage in research activities in various formats. The knowledge and insights gained from these research projects are continuously integrated into regular teaching and curriculum development.
