In accordance its participatory focus, the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna makes sustainable contributions to supporting young musicians in Vienna and Austria. Specially developed programmes, working in collaboration with music schools and youth competitions (prima la musica, Jugend musiziert, EMCY — European Union of Music Competitions for Youth) support gifted music students on the cusp of a professional music education.
In addition to this, the MUK also develops services in the fields of informal learning, community music and music communication for special target groups in the urban surroundings, working in cooperation with non-university institutions.
