Semester Ticket for Public Transport (Wiener Linien)
All officially enrolled students, who have not celebrated their 27th birthday before beginning the respective semester, can use the Semester Ticket for Wiener Linien public transport. The Semester Ticket is valid on all routes within Vienna (Zone 100) for metro, trams and bus routes (except for special express bus routes). The ÖBB (e.g. rapid transit railway) and Wiener Lokalbahnen (up to the Vösendorf-Siebenhirten stop) can also be used.
The Semester Ticket is valid for five months. In the winter semester of 1 September to 31 January and in the summer semester from 1 February to 30 June. A holiday monthly pass can also be purchased for July and August.
The Semester Ticket costs 150 EUR; students with their main residence in Vienna can obtain it at a discounted price of 75 EUR. The holiday monthly pass costs 29.50 EUR.
The Semester Ticket can be purchased in the online ticket shop of Wiener Linien, via the Wiener Linien ticket app or at one of the ticket offices.
Entitlement Cards were discontinued as of the 2015/2016 winter semester. With immediate effect, Semester Tickets can be purchased using your student ID or confirmation of registration.
