Prizes and Scholarships by the City of Vienna

The City of Vienna awards outstanding artists and academics accolades in the form of prizes and bursaries as a sign of recognition of their work.

These are awarded in the fields of music (composition), literature, visual arts and architecture as well as science and national education.

 

Prizes by the City of Vienna – Cultural Department (MA7)

Each year, the City of Vienna awards prizes for outstanding achievements in the fields of music (composition), literature, journalism, visual arts, architecture, science and national education of 8,000.-- EUR per prize, up to a total prize fund of 96,000.-- EUR.

 

Sponsorship Prizes by the City of Vienna – Cultural Department (MA7)

Each year, the City of Vienna awards up to 13 sponsorship prizes in the fields of music (composition), literature, visual arts and architecture as well as science and national education. These prizes are worth 4,000.-- EUR each.

 

Ernst-Krenek-Prize by the City of Vienna

In 1985, on the occasion of the 85th recurrence of the birthday of Ernst Krenek, its honorary citizen, the City of Vienna donated a prize for a piece by composers or music writers of 8,000.-- EUR. This prize is awarded every second year in December.
