Dieter Boyer, Vice Rector for Organizational Development at the MUK, looks back on a multifaceted career in the fields of art, culture, and education. Since 2018, he has led the areas of External Relations, Development, and Quality Assurance at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK).
From 2013 to 2018, he served as a cultural policy advisor in the office of the Vienna City Councillor for Cultural Affairs and Science, where he was responsible for opera, drama, dance and performance, as well as music and literature. During this time, he also served on the supervisory boards of renowned cultural institutions such as the Theater in der Josefstadt, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, and on the advisory board of the Volkstheater Wien.
His artistic career as a theater director focused on contemporary drama. It includes numerous productions at prestigious venues such as the Staatstheater Mainz, Nationaltheater Mannheim, and the Salzburg Festival. Several of his productions were invited to major theater festivals, such as the Autorentheatertage at the Deutsches Theater Berlin and the Mülheim Theater Days. From 1999 to 2001, he worked as an assistant director at the Burgtheater in Vienna.
In addition to his practical work, he also teaches as a lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and in playwright training programs in Graz.
His academic background includes a Master's degree in Cultural Management as well as Intercultural Competencies, with a focus on diversity management. He also completed study stays at New York University and in Spain.
In October 2024, Dieter Boyer was appointed Vice Rector for Organizational Development at the MUK.
