The aim of the Contemporary Dance and Ballet bachelor’s programme is to provide holistic training for dancers at an international level, enabling independent and self-determined professional practice in the various fields of contemporary stage dance. The Stage Dance course is defined as contemporary dance training. An international team of lecturers and collaboration with guest lecturers and visiting choreographers guarantees the artistic and stylistic diversity of the training, which provides students with access to a variety of working methods in contemporary dance and direct access to professional practice.
Participation in public performances several times a year is a fixed part of the degree.
Excellent artistic and physical training is guaranteed through the communication of methods of contemporary dance and classic dance technique. Students develop the ability to interpret choreographies of contemporary repertoires and to work with (co)creative artists to design active creative processes or initiate these independently.
The complementary courses are made up of the modules of dance, artistic design, body awareness methods, theoretical principles, science & research and examinations. Personal focuses can be selected as part of elective modules.
This is the only opportunity in Austria to complete a university dance degree and school-leaving certificate in a joint programme (BG & BRG Boerhaavegasse, 1030 Wien with optional boarding). More information at www.boerhaavegasse.at
