The programme is primarily devoted to the stylistically nuanced interpretation of the Lied and oratorio repertoire in different languages. Artistic work takes place in close collaboration between the Lied and Oratorio class and the pianists of the class for vocal coaching and Lied interpretation led by Ralf Heiber.
Artistic instruction takes place both in individual lessons and in group classes and is based on a shared engagement with song analysis, textual understanding, poetics, and recitation. These elements are systematically deepened, form the artistic foundation of the programme, and are complemented by a reflective consideration of the historical and social contexts of the works.
Through this continuous collaboration, students develop not only their communicative competence but also their individual artistic personalities. The aim is the conscious cultivation of individual means of expression within a collaborative musical dialogue.
The programme is complemented by masterclasses with renowned artists, intensive block seminars (including, in particular, Lied interpretation with Ian Bostridge), work on joint concert projects, and focused preparation for national and international competitions. In this way, students are prepared in a practice-oriented manner for the demands of a professional artistic career.
