Location (Round 1): Rooms 4.12, 4.21 and 4.22 (Bräunerstraße, 4th Floor, 1010 Vienna)
The entrance examination consists of several stages. Passing each stage is required in order to proceed to the next.
During the multi-day entrance examination, applicants' technical dance skills, artistic and creative abilities, rhythmic and musical aptitude, as well as their suitability for the teaching profession, will be assessed.
Examination Content
Round 1
- Contemporary Dance
Assessment of the applicants' technical dance abilities, previous dance training, physical endurance, and interpretation of prescribed dance sequences.
Duration: 90 minutes
- Improvisation
Assessment of creative abilities (improvisation tasks), social skills (working with and within a group), and pedagogical aptitude.
Duration: 90 minutes
- Rhythmics and Musicality
Four-bar rhythm imitation, rhythmic question-and-answer exercises, development of movement patterns based on an eight-bar structure, coordination tasks combining movement and rhythm, and singing back musical intervals.
Duration: 90 minutes
- Anatomical Assessment
Assessment of the applicants' anatomical suitability, including spinal flexibility, joint alignment, muscle and joint function, and lower limb alignment.
- Interim Report
Round 2
- Interview
The interview with the examination committee is based on the applicant's motivation letter.
Duration: approximately 10 minutes
Round 3
- Practical Teaching Assessment
Examination tasks in the areas of Contemporary Dance, Improvisation, and Rhythmics. Each applicant will lead a dance class for the group lasting approximately 10 minutes (topic of the applicant's choice; prepared assignment).
Duration: approximately 4 hours

Applications for studying at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna can be submitted online at anytime; they will be reserved for the next admission period. Applications submitted after the application deadline can no longer be considered for the subsequent audition date.
