of(f) rhythm is a research-based workshop led by choreographer and dancer Naïma Mazic with musician Amir Wahba, inviting dancers and jazz musicians into a shared artistic laboratory. Emerging from the ongoing practice of n ï m company (founded in 2016), the workshop, rooted in jazz music and contemporary dances, explores rhythm, form and melody as common languages between body and sound. Participants work through task-based structured improvisation, moving from shared pulse, beat and offbeat to odd meters, polyrhythms, and melodic rhythm. Drawing from the form of jazz written compositions, choreographic scores are developed that allow individual expression within clear structures. The workshop also includes learning and embodying choreography based on compositions by female jazz musicians, such as Carla Bley, highlighting their musical language and their unique voice through movement.
of(f) rhythm offers space for reconnecting practical exploration with collective listening, rhythmic communication and embodied knowledge across dance and music.
