Alejandra Poggio studied with Manuel Guillén and Serguei Fatkouline and obtained a Professional Degree with the highest mark at the Amaniel Consevatory in Madrid, in 1997. After collaborating in numerous concerts playing viola, she decided to concentrate on this instrument. After 4 years of studies at the Escorial Superior Conservatory with Maestros Thuan Do Ming and Jose Manuel Román she obtained her Master Degree also with the highest mark and honours. In 1999, she won a place in the class of Gérard Caussé at the prestigious Reina Sofía Superior School of music and took two years of intensive solo studies. In 2001, she moved to Vienna to study at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien with Thomas Kakuska, violist of the Alban Berg Quartet.

Among the years she has participated in many Masterclasses, playing for Vartan Manoogian, David Zafer, Gérard Claret, Serguei Kalinine, Hatto Beyerle and Paul Neubauer, as well as attending seminars with Maxim Vengerov, Vadim Repin, Tabea Zimermann, Menahem Pressler, Reiner Schmidt, Ralph Gotoni, Natalia Gutmann, Bernard Greenhouse, David Walter, Hermann Krebbers, Robert Masters, Zakahr Bron, Alexander Bondurianskij and Ronald Leonard.

Alejandra Poggio is also well known for her experience as chamber musician. She received an intensive formation with Antonello Farulli and Johannes Meissl and was a member of chamber music groups such as the Granados-NCR Quartet, playing live for the National Spanish Radio (RNE) and toured around Spain in some of the most prestigious halls such as the National Auditorium in Madrid. She participated in Festivals like Lanaudiere in Canada and Pierre Monteaux in U.S.A. Other Chamber music mentors include Hatto Beyerle, Petras Kunka (Vilnius String Quartet), Thomas Kakuska (Alban Berg Quartet), Piero Farulli (Italian Quartet) and Walter Levin (Lasalle Quartet). During the four years she lived in Vienna, she performed regularly as guest of trios and Quartets such as the “Eggner Trio”. She also was Solo Viola of the “ Sinfonietta Baden” during three years. Between all the solos she plays, one of the best was recorded in a live concert in Varsovia for the National Radio of Poland. Her orchestral experience is very extensive and includes concerts all over Austria, Spain, Poland, Germany, Holand, Belgium, Mexico, Czech Republic, under the baton of conductors such as Jose Luis García Asensio, Antoni Ros Marbá, Jean Jacques Kantorow, Salvador Mas, Pablo González, Maximiano Valdés, Támas Vásary, Peter Csába, Thomas Rösner, Manfred Huss, etc.

Since September 2004, she lives in Spain and has a full position of Professor at the Granada Superior Conservatory. She is regularly invited to give viola and chamber music courses like she did in Canada, Lituania and Turkey among many other places in Spain. Her professional schedule includes several recitals in Spain as well as Chamber Music Concerts in Canada, France, Spain and Austria.
