Unter dem Label SCHLAGWERK WIEN! veranstaltet die MUK seit vielen Jahren Symposien, Konzerte und Masterclasses. Das Line-Up der aktuellen Ausgabe versammelt mit Casey Cangelosi, Pius Cheung, Eriko Daimo, Edoardo Giachinto, Friederike v. Krosigk und Theodor Milkov sechs Stars der internationalen Perkussionszene hier bei uns in Wien – COVID-19-bedingt natürlich online in unserem virtuellen MUK-Lehrsaal.

Percussionist & Composer, Casey Cangelosi is the Director of Percussion Studies at James Madison University. As a visiting guest-artist, he is commonly hosted world-wide by educational institutions, music festivals, and educational music seminars. Since 2011, Cangelosi has performed solo recitals in Italy, Germany, Costa Rica, Mexico, Argentina, Australia, Croatia, Sweden, Taiwan, Portugal, and widely across the U.S. at events including (see calendar): The Midwest Clinic, several PASIC Showcase Concerts, and over 40 universities. Cangelosi adjudicates percussion performance and composition competitions, and is regularly commissioned for new works. Hailed by the New York Times as “deeply expressive” for his groundbreaking recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations on solo marimba, Pius Cheung is widely known as one of the most important percussionists of his generation. He has presented solo recitals at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, National Concert Hall in Taipei, Kyoto Arts Center (Japan), as well as music festivals around the globe such as the Usedom Music Festival (Germany), Manchester Music Festival, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Taiwan International Percussion Convention, Chiapas International Marimba Festival (Mexico), Drum Fest (Poland), Percussion Plus Festival (Denmark), Italy PAS International Percussion Festival, Osaka Percussion Festival and Shenyang International Percussion Festival (China).
He is one of the most sought-after composers for percussion today. His latest works include Allegro Brutale for solo marimba, commissioned by Dame Evelyn Glennie; Heaven and Earth, a 20 minute tone poem for the Ju Percussion Group; and a marimba concerto for the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra.
Furthermore, Pius Cheung frequently serves as a judge at national and international competitions, as well as presents masterclasses at renowned institutions such as the Juilliard School, Curtis Institute of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Amsterdam Conservatory, Paris Conservatory, Toho Gakuen (Japan) and Beijing Central Conservatory.
Cheung endorses Yamaha, Zildjian, Remo, and Innovative Percussion, which produces his signature mallet series. He is currently an Associate Professor and Chair of the Percussion Area at the University of Oregon.

Her recent performances include concerto performances with RTE Ireland National Symphony Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonic in Finland, Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, and Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra among others; as well as recital tours over 25 countries in Asia, Europe and the Americas.  
Eriko Daimo frequently serves as a judge at national and international competitions, as well as presents masterclasses at renowned institutions such as University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Paris Conservatory, Conservatory of Amsterdam, Sibelius Academy, Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, and The Juilliard School.  
Daimo is an endorser of Marimba One, Innovative Percussion, and Zildjian Cymbals. She is currently on the faculty and the Director of Marimba Study at the New York University Steinhardt and faculty at The Juilliard School pre-college division.
