Behaviour in case of illness

If you have symptoms or fear you might be ill, stay home and dial 1450.

What are the criteria for being a suspected COVID-19 case?

Any form of acute respiratory infection (with or without fever) with at least one of the following symptoms for which there is no other plausible cause: Coughing, sore throat, shortness of breath, catarrh of the upper respiratory tract (inflammation of the nose, throat and larynx), sudden loss of sense of taste/odour is considered a suspected COVID-19 case and must be reported immediately to 1450.

If you are classified as a suspected case, contact the MUK and list all persons with whom you had contact at the MUK from 48 hours before the first symptoms appeared: or +43 1 512 77 47-999

People with symptoms other than those mentioned (e.g. vomiting, diarrhoea) can also be classified as suspected COVID-19 cases if there is an urgent medical suspicion and must call 1450.

What are the criteria for being a confirmed COVID-19 case?

Any case that is proven by a positive COVID-19 laboratory test is considered a confirmed COVID-19 case (regardless of the symptoms).

Any person who has had close/unprotected contact with a COVID-19 case (less than 2 metres away for more than 15 minutes without face mask) must stay away from the MUK. Voluntary isolation at home is recommended until instructions are given by the health authorities.

Sick people stay at home!

Sick MUK employees are in any case obliged to inform the MUK human resources management (, +43 1 512 77 47-240).

As usual, sick students must inform the course of study (head of study programme, course management).

All MUK members are recommended to use the Stopp Corona-App of the Austrian Red Cross.

Please determine your state of health exclusively with the qualified employees of 1450 and by doctors. All COVID-19 contacts at MUK are not medically qualified to make diagnoses on your state of health, but will provide you and MUK with organisational support in coping with the pandemic.
